Animals in the desert habitat. Most of the animals who live in the desert are insects scorpions reptiles and spiders. Animals who live in them often have special features that help them survive. Desert habitats are incredibly hot and dry places but some animals and plants can survive there.
These animals have to overcome various challenges including excessive heat and lack of water to thrive in the desert. There are also semideserts which are desert like but get more rain up to 16 inches per year. Some animals cool off under the shade of a large cactus or rock. Mammals such as the fennec fox meerkat dromedary and Bactrian camel.
Others live along the edges of deserts where there are more plants and shelter. Some desert habitats are short-livedspringing up to brighten the landscape only when the rains come. Various animals break in the shade throughout the daylight and guise for food at night when it becomes cooler atmosphere outside.
